Luma levels on the scope will be in roughly the same position relative to those within the frame. For example, if part of your sky is overexposed you will see it in the same horizontal position on the waveform display as it appears in the frame. If you are monitoring video which is high contrast, you might not see any values in the mid grays. However if your video levels are low, you might see most of the waveform down the bottom of the scope.

It’s not really viable in the context of showing something to a director while other people twiddle their thumbs. All the inputs and outputs are already included, the large batteries attaches directly to the back of the camera. The only thing really missing is a viewfinder or an articulated monitor, which admittedly ads to the cost. "where else could the display go?" They could've make a folding screen, like on old URSAs and the majority of mirrorless cameras. You can say it would increase the cost, but I'm sure that a hinge would increase the price less than buying an extenal monitor.
